Location of Obudu Mountain Resort

Obudu Mountain Resort is located in Cross River State, not in Calabar as commonly misconceived. It takes about 7–8 hours by road from Calabar to Obudu. A preferred route for those coming from farther areas like Lagos is to first arrive in Enugu, which is about a 5–6 hour drive to Obudu. The resort is situated in Obudu town within the Obanliku local government area, approximately 45 minutes from central Obudu town.

 

 

What is Obudu Mountain Resort?

The resort is built on the plateaus of Obudu, sitting at an altitude of over 1,500 meters. Upon arrival at the foot of the mountain, it takes about 25 minutes to reach the resort, navigating a series of bends and turns.Originally a settlement for cattle ranchers, Obudu was expanded into a resort with additional attractions during Donald Duke’s tenure as Governor. While some attractions like the Waterpark, artificial pool, and cable cars are currently non-functional, the resort retains its charm with natural waterfalls, streams, and beautiful scenery.

  • Connectivity: MTN is the only cellular network with coverage at the resort. Consider getting an MTN SIM card.
  • Weather: Obudu is colder than most of Nigeria. Pack warm clothing.
  • Facilities: There are no TVs in the lodges, and the water heater operates at specific times. Room heaters and fridges may not work, but the cold weather keeps items fresh.
  • Footwear: Pack suitable footwear for hiking.
  • Transportation: There are no shuttle cars within the resort. Having a standby car is advisable.
